About the Role
The primary role of the Production & Assembly function is to manufacture, assemble, and package products while supporting day-to-day production requirements and changing business demands. This includes equipment setup, monitoring, maintenance, and process support to ensure efficient manufacturing operations.
As a Tooling Technician, you will be responsible for supporting tooling, plant equipment, and manufacturing systems through preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, product quality, and compliance with ResMed's Quality Management System, GMP, OH&S, and regulatory requirements.
Let's Talk About Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on tooling, molds, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
- Support the setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and optimization of production equipment and tooling systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, calibration records, and equipment performance.
- Assist in developing and implementing methods, procedures, and process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of tooling and production equipment to identify wear, defects, or opportunities for improvement.
- Investigate equipment-related issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support manufacturing goals and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, GMP requirements, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Act as an informal resource and provide guidance to team members with less experience when required.
- Work independently while prioritizing maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and equipment performance enhancement projects.
Let's Talk About Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Diploma, Higher NITEC, NITEC, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in tooling, manufacturing, production support, maintenance, or related technical environments.
- Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, precision engineering, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of equipment calibration processes and maintenance documentation systems.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO standards, and quality management systems.
- Experience with mold maintenance, tooling repair, CNC machining, or precision manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to identify key issues, analyze data, and recommend practical solutions to improve equipment performance and manufacturing efficiency.
