Job summary

Harris Pye Singapore Pte Ltd invites a skilled welder to perform high-precision ARC/MIG/TIG welding on marine and offshore structures, ensuring all welds meet quality, safety and classification standards for durability in harsh environments.

You will work with stainless steel, aluminium, carbon steel and alloys, read drawings and WPS, and support NDT and inspections while following strict safety rules on site, offshore or shipyard deployments.

Qualifications

• Minimum secondary education or equivalent.
• ARC/MIG/TIG welding certification with P92 preferred.
• Experience in marine, shipyard, or offshore welding.
• Familiarity with marine-grade materials.
• Able to read drawings and WPS.
• Knowledge of AWS/ISO welding codes.
• Physically fit for demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on stainless steel, aluminium, carbon steel, and alloys for marine apps.
• Fabricate, install and repair ship structures, piping, tanks and offshore components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols and WPS.
• Prepare materials prior to welding (cutting, grinding, cleaning, fit-up).
• Set up and maintain welding equipment and parameters.
• Ensure welds comply with marine standards by classification bodies.
• Conduct visual weld inspections and rectify defects.
• Support NDT activities and quality inspections.
• Adhere to safety, work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Maintain housekeeping of tools and equipment.

Job Purpose

To perform high-precision welding (ARC/MIG/TIG) on marine and offshore structures, ensuring all welds meet required quality, safety, and classification standards for durability and corrosion resistance in marine environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute welding on stainless steel, aluminium, carbon steel, and alloy materials for marine applications
• Perform fabrication, installation, and repair of ship structures, piping systems, tanks, and offshore components
• Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, andWelding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Prepare materials prior to welding (cutting, grinding, cleaning, fit-up)
• Set up and maintain welding equipment, including shielding gas (argon) and welding parameters
• Ensure all welds comply with applicable marine standards and specifications set by classification bodies such as American Bureau of Shipping, DNV, and Lloyd's Register
• Conduct visual inspection of welds and rectify defects where required
• Support Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities and quality inspections
• Adhere strictly to workplace safety procedures, including working in confined spaces and at heights
• Maintain proper housekeeping and care of tools and equipment

• Proven experience in marine, shipyard, or offshore welding works
• Familiarity with marine-grade materials (e.g., duplex stainless steel, aluminium alloys)

• Knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ISO)
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments
