Therapist Assistant, Rehab Centre

The Therapist Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Physiotherapist/ Occupational Therapist/ Speech Therapist and support in the delivery of the services required. He/She will also need to help at the rehab reception counter for outpatient clients’ registration, booking appointments, collect payment and issue invoices.

Job Description

Administrative

1. Help in rehab reception counter for outpatient clients’ registration, booking appointments, collect payment and issue invoices.
2. Manage patients’ referral for therapy under supervision of Patient Service Officer.
3. Charge patients accurately.
4. Update Inpatient list statistical records regularly.
5. Provide feedback on services/programs related to operations of therapy services.

Operations

1. Comply with clinical and service standards and safety precautions.
2. Assist in the set up patients on electrical stimulation, application of hot pack and ice packs, ambulation of patients under supervision of the therapist.
3. Arrange all case files and greet patients when they come for therapy services.
4. Handle treatment modalities strictly under supervision of the therapist (Training will be provided).
5. Assist the therapist in conducting exercises for individual patients.
6. Supervise patients while the therapists attend to other patients.
7. Assist in pottering of patients.
8. Assist in language translations.
9. Receive supplies of consumables and equipment.

Additional Operation for Exercise Specialist Role

1. Assist PT to attend to maintenance stage rehab clients independently.
2. Assist PT to attend to sport prevention and injury clients.
3. Sport massage.
4. Sport taping.
5. Strength and conditioning.
6. Sport injury prevention.
7. Sport rehabilitation.
8. Design and carry out exercises classes for both rehabilitation and wellness client, working together with PT.

• Rehab based: OA knee, TKR, THR

• Wellness based: Pilates class, staff wellness exercises programme

• Progress the clients exercises programme, working together with PT

• Assist in gym equipment maintenance routine and check

• Assist in housekeeping of gym environment and area

Job Requirements

1. WSQ Higher Certificate in Therapy Services, where there is no formal qualification, 1 to 2 years clinical experience on the job will be preferred.
2. Degree in Sports Science or equivalent will be preferred.
3. Valid BCLS certification.
4. At least 2 to 3 years of experience in healthcare related institutions.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Service oriented, customer focused.
7. Good team player.
8. Maintain confidentiality of patient’s information.
9. Time management.
10. Able to work independently as well as with various healthcare professionals.
11. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
12. Good decision making and problem solving skills.
13. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
