Job Description:

  1. Under direct supervision, assists in planning and conducts sample preparation and laboratory testing on metallic, non-metallic, and/or welding materials and components.
  2. Acquires basic knowledge of test procedures and techniques.
  3. Documents test procedures, data, observations, and results.
  4. Gains working knowledge of metallic, non-metallic, and/or welding materials and processes, and their application to components.
  5. Develops understanding of materials or welding quality control inspection techniques, mechanical test equipment, and test instrumentation.
  6. Assists in acquiring parts for prototypes, collaborates with manufacturing, and helps in the release of new materials and processes into production.
  7. Incorporates Reliability, HSE, Quality analysis, and Project Management techniques in all job processes.
  8. Follows company standards, material and processing specifications, and laboratory practices.
  9. Job tasks, when performed correctly, impact cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations. Errors are measurable and confined.

Requirements:

Skills are typically acquired through the completion of an Associate's degree in a science field or through 2 years of related work experience.
