Job description

About the role

Based at our Singapore Centre of Excellence, you will provide expert technical support for Appear’s APAC customers, both remotely and on-site. You will work with innovative media processing solutions—on-premises, virtualised, and cloud-based—across contribution, distribution, and media processing workflows.

You’ll be a trusted technical advisor and main point of contact in time-critical situations. Your role includes commissioning, training, troubleshooting, and effective problem resolution. This is a full-time position reporting to the Head of Technical Support Services APAC, with expected travel of 10–15%, and occasional after-hours on-call support.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver technical support to APAC customers—remote and on-site
  • Troubleshoot and replicate issues, develop solutions, and ensure resolution
  • Collaborate with development and Tier 3 support for escalations
  • Maintain simulations and testing in the Appear Singapore lab
  • Manage service calls in CRM accurately
  • Arrange module exchanges and repairs
  • Conduct commissioning, operations, and maintenance training for customers

About you

  • Relevant higher education (minimum BSc preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience as a support/system technical engineer
  • Deep knowledge of compression for contribution, OTT, and distribution
  • Expertise in Audio/Video/Metadata compression (ST 2110 and other formats)
  • Familiar with SSH, switch and OS IP configuration (Layer 2 and 3)
  • Experience with SDN/Orchestration systems, APIs, NMOS, REST
  • 3+ years in IP Network engineering and switch fabric experience
  • Cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) a plus
  • Strong verbal and written English; other languages an advantage
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service mindset
