Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management of a fleet of tanker vessels. You will ensure safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the ships.

Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, budgets, dry-docking, vessel inspections, and coordination with shipyards and service providers. The role requires a Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC (preferred) and tanker experience.

Qualifications

  • CoC as Chief Engineer Unlimited preferred.
  • Experience in tanker operations and marine engineering systems.
  • Ability to manage budgets and maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day technical operations of assigned tanker vessels.
  • Monitor vessel performance, machinery reliability, and maintenance execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMO, OCIMF, and company requirements.
  • Prepare and control technical budgets, repair costs, and maintenance expenditure.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise dry-docking, repairs, and major maintenance projects.
  • Review vessel defects and provide timely technical solutions.
  • Monitor PMS implementation and ensure planned maintenance activities.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and provide technical guidance to onboard teams.
  • Liaise with shipyards, equipment manufacturers, classification societies, and service providers.
  • Support audits, vetting inspections, and port state control inspections.
  • Ensure spare parts procurement and inventory are effectively monitored.
  • Participate in emergency response and technical incident investigations.

Job description

Our client is a reputable international ship owner and operator seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management of a fleet of tanker vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day technical operations of assigned tanker vessels.
  • Monitor vessel performance, machinery reliability, and maintenance execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMO, OCIMF, and company requirements.
  • Prepare and control technical budgets, repair costs, and maintenance expenditure.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise dry-docking, repairs, and major maintenance projects.
  • Review vessel defects, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide timely solutions.
  • Monitor PMS implementation and ensure planned maintenance activities are carried out effectively.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and provide technical guidance to onboard engineering teams.
  • Liaise with shipyards, equipment manufacturers, classification societies, and service providers.
  • Support audits, vetting inspections, and port state control inspections.
  • Ensure spare parts, technical procurement, and inventory management are effectively monitored.
  • Participate in emergency response and technical incident investigations when required.
Requirements:
  • Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Chief Engineer (Unlimited) preferred.
  • Previous sailing experience as Chief Engineer on tanker vessels is mandatory.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent within a ship management company, tanker owner, or tanker operator.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker operations, vessel maintenance, and marine engineering systems.
  • Familiarity with IMO, ISM Code, MARPOL, Class, and Flag State regulations.
  • Experience managing technical budgets, dry-dockings, and repair projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with vessel crews, shipyards, and external stakeholders.
