A leading energy company is seeking a Chief Engineer to manage the operations of LPG and oil tankers. The ideal candidate will have a Marine Engineer Class 1 Certificate, extensive tanker experience, and strong management skills. Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of assigned vessels, following HSSEQ system.
  • Plan, manage, and monitor vessel repairs, dry dockings, and conversions within budget.
  • Monitor vessel performance and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Collect and evaluate ship emission and compliance data (SEEMP / EEXI / CII) and ensure approvals.
  • Track vessel certifications and arrange necessary surveys (e.g., Flag State, Panama Canal).
  • Visit vessels at least twice a year (in port and during sailing), report findings, and follow up on any issues.
  • Prepare periodic management reports (biannual, triannual, or quarterly) for review.
  • Maintain strict cost control of annual budgets for assigned vessels.
  • Review and approve monthly financial reports before submission to Technical Manager.
  • Support training and onboarding of new crew and office staff.
  • Assist with SIRE inspections and TMSA audits.
Requirements
  • Marine Engineer Class 1 (Chief Engineer Unlimited) Certificate is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of tanker experience is essential.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as Chief Engineer on LPG or oil tankers.
  • Prior experience as a Technical Superintendent, preferably with tankers, is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Good organizational, communication, and practical skills.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice.
