Job summary

Tap Growth ai is seeking a seasoned Marine Engineer to oversee the technical performance and reliability of the managed vessels in Singapore. You will lead maintenance programs, coordinate dry-docking, and drive efficiency improvements while ensuring compliance with class rules and international regulations.

Ideal candidates have 5–8 years of marine engineering experience, strong budget management skills, and the ability to liaise with owners, yards, and authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or diploma in Marine Engineering or related maritime discipline.
• Certificate of Competency (CoC) desirable.
• 5–8 years of marine engineering experience including sea-going or shore-based superintendent roles.
• Strong knowledge of vessel machinery, maintenance systems, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, contractors, and multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage vessel technical budgets and control expenditures.
• Evaluate defects and arrange corrective actions.
• Conduct inspections and technical audits to assess condition and performance.
• Support risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives across the fleet.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical performance, reliability, and operational readiness of assigned vessels.
• Monitor vessel maintenance programs and ensure planned maintenance activities are completed within required timelines.
• Coordinate dry-docking, repairs, surveys, upgrades, and other major technical projects.
• Review vessel performance data and recommend measures to improve machinery efficiency, fuel consumption, and equipment reliability.
• Liaise with Masters, Chief Engineers, classification societies, flag authorities, shipyards, and service providers on technical matters.
• Ensure vessels comply with applicable class requirements, statutory regulations, company procedures, and maritime industry standards.
• Prepare and manage vessel technical budgets while maintaining effective control of repair, maintenance, and spare-part expenditure.
• Evaluate technical defects and machinery issues, providing timely guidance and arranging appropriate corrective actions.
• Conduct vessel inspections and technical audits to assess condition, maintenance standards, safety, and operational performance.
• Support incident investigations, technical risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives across the managed fleet.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related maritime discipline; a valid Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency is highly desirable.
• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant marine engineering experience, including sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer and/or shore-based superintendent experience.
• Strong knowledge of vessel machinery, planned maintenance systems, dry-docking, class and statutory requirements, and international maritime regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical budgets, contractors, repair projects, vessel performance, and multiple operational priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills, with the flexibility to travel and attend vessels when required.
