Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in Rubber Technology or Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science with rubber focus.
• 5-7 years relevant industrial experience (Bachelor's) or 3-5 years (Master's) or 2-3 years (Ph.D.).
• Experience in tire, synthetic rubber, rubber compound or rubber chemicals industry.
• Preference for experience in Technical Service, Tire Compound Development, Rubber Compounding, Product Development, Application Engineering, Customer Technical Support.
• Knowledge of tire technology and elastomers used in tires.
• Regular travel to India; occasional travel to Japan and Europe for training/in meetings.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical contact for customers in Indian tire industry.
• Coordinate product evaluations and laboratory/factory trials.
• Analyze laboratory, compound and tire data to prepare technical reports.
• Support new product introduction and customer qualification activities.

About Asahi Kasei

Asahi Kasei is a leading global supplier of high-performance synthetic rubber for the tire industry. To strengthen our technical support capability for the rapidly growing Indian tire market, we are looking for a motivated Technical Service Engineer to join our team based in Singapore.

This customer-facing role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with leading tire manufacturers in India while collaborating with technical teams across Singapore, Japan and Europe.

Your Role

As the Technical Service Engineer - India. You will provide technical support to customers using Asahi Kasei's rubber products. You will coordinate customer evaluations, laboratory and factory trials, analyze technical data, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet customer requirements. In addition, you will support the Quality Assurance laboratory at the Singapore plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers in the Indian tire industry.
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customer Technical Service, R&D and Product Development teams.
• Understand customer technical requirements and support the planning and execution of laboratory evaluations.
• Coordinate product evaluations and follow up customer development projects.
• Analyze laboratory, compound and tire performance data to prepare technical reports.
• Support new product introduction and customer qualification activities.
• Prepare technical presentations and customer visit reports.
• Monitor technical developments, customer needs and market trends.
• Coordinate sample preparation, shipment and evaluation follow-up.
• Represent Asahi Kasei during customer visits, technical meetings and industry events.
• Responsible for planning and conducting hands-on analyses to support the set-up of instruments in the QC laboratory.
• Conduct method review and validation, data analysis, process optimization and reliability troubleshooting.
• Review and upkeep Quality, Safety and training documents of instruments in compliance with ISO and IATF standards.
• Participate in laboratory process improvement initiatives.

Job requirements:

• Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. degree in Rubber Technology or Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science with specialized focus on Rubber/Elastomer applications.
• Candidates should possess one of the following, bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of relevant industrial experience; or Master's degree with 3-5 years of relevant industrial experience; or Ph.D. with 2-3 years of relevant industrial experience
• Experience in the tire, synthetic rubber, rubber compound or rubber chemicals industry.
• Preference would be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: Technical Service, Tire Compound Development, Rubber Compounding, Product Development, Application Engineering, Customer Technical Support
• Good understanding of tire technology, tire compounds and tire performance.
• Good knowledge of SBR, BR and other elastomers used in tire applications.
• Practical experience supporting tire manufacturers or developing materials for tire applications.
• Knowledge and understanding of laboratory operation, equipment (GC, HPLC, GPC, FTIR, Titrators), chromatography data system, Microsoft tools and systems (LIMS).
• Regular travel to and within India to support customer visits, technical discussions and to support factory trials whenever necessary. Occasional travel to Japan and Europe for technical training and internal meetings.
