Job description

On behalf of one of its clients in Ship Management Services, the French Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Technical Purchaser.

Our client is currently looking for a Purchaser to reinforce the team in Singapore, with a specific focus on the infrastructure assets.

Responsibilities

To ensure efficient and economical supply of spares, stores and services to the assets as member of the shore based fleet team, in order to support continued and efficient asset operations.

Your responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Collecting price inquiries for spares/stores/services with different vendors, verifying the received offers and comparing them with the requests. If necessary, verify with the Superintendent and/or crew onboard. If appropriate, negotiate the commercial and legal framework with vendors and eventually propose valid quotations for approval;
  • Placing purchase orders for spares/stores/services after approval, instructing vendors and following up on POs and delivery;
  • Managing the supply of spares/stores/services to the asset including determining the most efficient and economical means and route of transport, coordination and follow-up of deliveries and supplies, taking care of customs formalities/forwarding documents and keeping the team informed on the delivery date;
  • Continuous improvement by performing vendor evaluations, sharing process optimization best practices with the Head of Procurement and Logistics and participation in briefings with the senior on board personnel.
  • Assisting the Technical Superintendent with the day-to-day technical management of the vessels from a Procurement & Logistics perspective;
  • Supporting the business development team with the procurement-related aspects of tenders received from potential customers;
  • Based on the procurement management strategy, contributing to cost reduction initiatives by leading tender processes, negotiating agreements and managing contracts;
  • Supporting in optimizations of procurement processes and systems
