Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Network Operations, Marine Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of marine Industry experience in a marine repair coordination, ship operations management role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in leading technical programs and project management, demonstrating excellent cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with marine industry external organizations or supplier networks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, project coordination, and management skills.
  • Strong communication and people management skills, with creative thinking to identify opportunities for operational improvements in critical situations.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, working with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage schedules, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Google is forming a new Submarine Cable organization to build, operate, and promote global infrastructure supporting Google’s networking growth and open networking objectives. This organization will require dedicated operational programs to define, design, and deploy resources within Google’s Global Networking and Google Cloud division, fostering significant resource development, governance, and talent development.

Our Technical Infrastructure team keeps Google's online architecture running, from data centers to next-generation platforms, ensuring optimal network performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage regional preventive maintenance planning and submarine cable repair coordination, ensuring quality and leading repair efforts.
  • Oversee handover of new marine-related cable systems from build to operate teams, ensuring data quality, pre-go-live checks, and maintenance solutions are in place.
  • Coordinate submarine cable repairs, assurance, and incident management, including inspections and maintenance.
  • Respond rapidly to cable faults and damages, collaborating with repair authorities, ship operators, maintenance agencies, and external organizations.
  • Ensure efficient repair and service restoration through close collaboration with teams at cable landing sites and ship-to-ship communications.
