As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

The Global Network Solutions (GNS) mission creates the network that society can depend on.

The Global Network Solutions team plans, acquires, and delivers the network infrastructure assets that connect Google's Data Centers to our users and Cloud customers throughout the world. Google's hyper-scale global network enables the reliable transfer of data across metros, countries, continents, and oceans.

Nestled within Global Network Solutions, the Fiber Asset and Delivery team oversees the delivery lifecycle of fiber assets acquired from carrier infrastructure providers ensuring all the elements are stitched together to deliver Google's products and services.

Fiber asset and capacity delivery is a team of Technical Program Managers (T/PgMs) with expertise in guiding complex delivery projects of network assets for the B2 and B4 production network and cloud customer initiatives.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities
  • Assist upstream planning and acquisition teams in developing infrastructure requirements, priorities, delivery date expectations.
  • Manage the delivery of large-scale network infrastructure projects long-haul dark fiber, metro fiber, leased capacity/circuits, and inside plant fiber from inception through delivery. Ensure facilities are delivered on schedule and meet technical specifications.
  • Serve as primary North America or South America vendor contact for these activities. Escalate up vendor management chains as necessary if delivery timelines are at risk.
  • Lead kickoff and regular project status meetings while keeping downstream teams at Google aware of project and delivery status.
  • Oversee the program to handle all vendor handover documentation (e.g., letter of authority, customer facility assignment), design layout record, completion notification, test results and technical drawings while working with vendors and Google staff to coordinate and facilitate excellent record-keeping and communication.
