Responsibilities:
- Lead technical Superintendents during emergencies or critical situations, providing guidance on appropriate responses and ensuring effective communication and coordination within the team.
- Oversee the technical management of the fleet, including daily maintenance and repair operations, budgeting, survey schedules, vessel assessments, inspections, and docking.
- Ensure assigned vessels are technically operational and managed according to company requirements.
- Involve technical Superintendents in strategic discussions to leverage their insights on technical operations, fleet performance, and future challenges, fostering ownership and accountability within the technical department.
- Ensure that Technical Superintendents provide and compile detailed reports after dry docking, including summaries of work performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures within 30 days post-docking.
- Identify and source technical and operational supplies for vessels, ensuring the most economical rates.
- Evaluate dry-docking and repair quotes, and select shipyards for maintenance and repair work.
- Conduct monthly reviews of logs and ensure the technical team adheres to inspection schedules for vessels.
- Monitor the technical status of vessels, ensuring compliance with class certification and survey requirements.
- Supervise contractors involved in vessel repairs and maintenance.
- Manage budgeting and cost control for ship spares and docking needs.
- Perform technical compliance audits and investigations into defects or failures to ensure conformance with regulations.
- Lead initiatives to improve safety practices within the team, ensuring technical superintendents prioritize safety and communicate its importance to the crew.
- Collaborate with the HSE Management team to implement QHSE systems and policies within the division.
- Regularly review recommended codes, guidelines, and standards to ensure compliance with Quality & Safety Management standards.
- Maintain vessels’ zero loss-time accident record and report all incidents and near misses to prevent potential issues.
- Undertake additional technical-related tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- COC Class 1 with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and hands-on skills.
- Independent, resourceful, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with ISM and ISPS regulations is essential.
- Willingness to travel at short notice when required.
