Job summary

Singapore Polytechnic is seeking a lab assistant to support the smooth operation of its laboratories for PET and CET courses. You will assist in conducting experiments, supervise student projects, and ensure safety standards are met.

The role includes managing lab stock and coordinating with vendors for purchases and maintenance of equipment. A 2-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate, with a focus on teamwork and hands-on engineering support.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electronic/Computer Engineering, or equivalent qualification in a related discipline.
• At least 2 years' hands-on experience working on Engineering projects.
• Candidates with 2+ years in Electronics Design and Development, Embedded Systems or Computer Networking have an added advantage.
• Self-driven, possess good interpersonal skills, willing to learn on the job and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Support the smooth functioning of the school's labs and assist/conduct lab experiments for PET and CET courses.
• Provide support to academic staff in teaching and supervising students' project works while ensuring safety regulations are followed.
• Undertake project/consultancy work with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage stock inventory and yearly budgeting for teaching materials and equipment maintenance.
• Liaise with vendors and evaluate quotations from suppliers for purchasing materials and lab equipment.
• Assist to troubleshoot electrical/electronic/IT systems and perform minor repairs of lab equipment.
• Housekeep lab facilities with regular maintenance and ensure safety guidelines are followed.
• Provide coordination, consultation with stakeholders, follow-up and implement in school functional/project work.

• To housekeep lab facilities by carrying out regular lab maintenance and ensure the safety of the labs according to safety guidelines.
• To provide support which include coordination, consultation with various stakeholders, follow‑up and implementation in school functional and/or project work.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Electronic/Computer Engineering, or equivalent qualification in a related discipline.
• At least 2 years' hands‑on experience working on Engineering projects.
• Candidates with at least 2 years of relevant working experience in one of the areas below would have an added advantage:
• (a) Electronics Design and Development
• (b) Embedded Systems
• (c) Computer Networking
• Self-driven, possess good interpersonal skills, willing to learn on the job and be a team player.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
