This role aims to support the development of students in the domain of Optometry by providing technical assistance for the Singapore Polytechnic Optometry Centre (SPOC) and Optometry laboratory activities related to teaching and learning (PET & CET), procurement, campus events and workshops.
The successful candidate will help maintain equipment, ensure smooth laboratory operations and contribute to the overall effectiveness of PET/CET. He/she will be responsible for procuring necessary materials and equipment and collaborating with co-locators and industry partners.

Responsibilities:-
- Provide technical support to the Singapore Polytechnic Optometry Centre (SPOC) and Optometry laboratory activities for teaching and learning (PET & CET), in campus events and workshops.
- Provide logistical support for events, lab visits and learning journey.
- Manage Contact Lenses and Ophthalmic Lenses in Singapore Optometry Centre (SPOC) by updating product specs and price lists in Digital Medical Record System (DMRS), and ordering, tracking for student practical and activities.
- Train lab users on the operation of dispensing equipment and carry out in a safe and effective way.
- Supervise, train, and guide Diploma Optometry students in Ophthalmic Lens dispensing and frame selection.
- Develop and implement effective safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Assess and enforce workplace health and safety, in accordance with Workplace Safety, Health & Environment policies and safety regulations.
- Liaise, negotiate and manage vendors, co-locators, contractors and other relevant parties for the technical or operational needs of the laboratory or school.
- Perform regular maintenance of lab equipment to ensure they are in good working conditions.
- Purchase and manage consumables, and instruments for laboratories and official events/activities.
- Track and manage assets for the assigned lab(s); ensure the information is up to date and assets are properly tagged.
- Maintain and upkeep laboratory records, including documentations for inventories, equipment calibrations and maintenance.
- Prepare lab materials for practical activities and clinical practise.
- Assess the reception role for Digital Medical Record system (DMRS) to manage by ordering, tracking, and updating inventory of Contact Lenses and Ophthalmic Lenses.
- Any other duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager or Management Team.
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:-
- Diploma in Optometry or a related field.
- Preferably at least three years of relevant industry experience.
- Process good product knowledge of Contact Lenses, Ophthalmic lens and dispensing skills.
- Fully registered optometrist with Optometrists and Opticians Board.
- Ability to guide students during dispensing supervision, contact lens and ophthalmic lenses, and manage customers.
- 5-day work week with some working days on Saturdays
- Knowledge in digitalisation would be an added advantage.
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous and attention to details.
- Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and project management skills.
- Able to work well both in a team and independently.
- Able to multi-task and work within timeline.
- Resourceful and possess good problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
[What we are looking for]
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
