The Opportunity
We are seeking a Technical Equipment Salesman to support our sales and business development efforts across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. You will support the development and execution of end-to-end sales strategies, achieve annual revenue targets, and foster strong relationships with key clients and partners. This role requires a high-energy, hands-on professional with industry knowledge, the ability to travel extensively, and a proven track record of closing complex technical sales.
Job Description
The Technical Equipment Salesman will identify new business opportunities, generate leads, and secure calibration and testing contracts. The role also involves managing client portfolios and supporting the business development team.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Development
- Identify and approach potential clients within assigned territories.
- Prepare and present service proposals and quotations.
- Respond to tenders and RFQs promptly.
- Negotiate contract terms within guidelines.
- Client Relationship Management
- Conduct site surveys and assess client needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Address inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Collaborate with operations to ensure contract completion.
- Collect and communicate client feedback.
- Occasional evening work for client meetings.
- Market Research & Analysis
- Monitor market trends and competitors.
- Identify new market opportunities.
- Gather intelligence on pricing and customer preferences.
- Contribute to sales strategies.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records.
- Prepare sales activity reports.
- Document client requirements and contracts.
- Manage sales documentation.
- Key Account Management
- Manage relationships with major clients.
- Develop account growth strategies.
- Oversee contract negotiations.
- Resolve complex client issues.
- Coordinate efforts for key accounts.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Contribute to strategic planning.
- Report on sales performance.
- Analyze the competitive landscape.
- Represent the company at industry events.
- Experience and Qualifications
- 10-15 years in sales or business development roles.
- Experience supporting mid or managerial roles in sales.
- Strong understanding of contract negotiations.
- Experience in calibration and testing services preferred.
- Current Customer Management
- Manage 30-50 corporate customers, ensuring growth and trust.
- Develop long-term relationships and align with customer strategies.
- Source opportunities and convert leads.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints.
- Track key account metrics.
- Understand market dynamics and devise marketing strategies.
- Technical and Quality Knowledge
- Knowledge in Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration, and Testing.
- Understanding of Singapore Accreditation standards.
- Troubleshooting, calibration, and testing process knowledge.
- Familiarity with quality management software and standards.
- Interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work cross-culturally and handle customer escalations.
- Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in sales management, preferably in calibration/testing services.
- Experience with sectors like aerospace, biomedical, pharma, oil & gas, etc.
- Proven sales and account development success.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of calibration quality systems (SAC, ISO 9001, ISO 17025).
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Proficient in MS Office, CRM, and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and travel extensively.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Availability for 100% travel, shift hours, weekends, and public holidays.
