A leading company seeks a Team Lead for IT Asset Disposal to manage the decommissioning and recycling of IT assets while ensuring compliance with legal standards. The role includes supervising a team, fostering safety, managing data destruction, and implementing sustainable practices. Ideal candidates will have a background in IT or environmental science and experience in asset management.
The Team Lead for IT Asset Disposal is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of decommissioning, recycling, and disposing of IT assets such as computers, servers, peripherals, and networking equipment. This position involves overseeing a team, ensuring compliance with legal and environmental standards, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the organization's sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities:· Lead a team in managing the disposal of IT assets (e.g., computers, servers, networking equipment, mobile devices).
· Evaluate and classify IT assets
· Ensure secure data destruction on devices to meet organizational, legal, and industry standards.
· Oversee asset tracking, ensuring proper documentation and reporting of disposed assets.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations concerning IT asset disposal
Team Management:· Supervise a team of IT asset disposal staff, providing training, guidance, and performance management.
· Assign tasks to team members and ensure deadlines are met.
· Foster a culture of safety, responsibility, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
· Collaborate with other departments (e.g., IT, Procurement, Legal) to ensure the disposal process aligns with company goals.
Compliance & Reporting:· Ensure that all IT asset disposal activities comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
· Generate reports on asset disposal activities, including volume, type, and destination of assets.
· Ensure proper documentation of data destruction and disposal certifications.
· Keep track of and report on recycling rates and sustainability efforts related to IT asset management.
Sustainability & Security:· Promote and implement sustainable disposal practices, reducing e-waste impact.
· Ensure the highest level of security during asset disposal, particularly with data-sensitive devices.
· Maintain inventory of disposed IT assets and ensure traceability.
· Work with other departments to manage surplus or redeployed IT assets as needed.
Requirements:· Education:Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or related fields.
· Experience:3–5 years in IT asset management, e-waste disposal, or a related field; at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
· Skills:
o Strong knowledge of IT asset management processes and best practices.
o Familiarity with data destruction techniques
o Understanding of environmental and regulatory standards related to e-waste disposal.
o Excellent leadership and team management skills.
o Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
o Proficient in asset management software or tools.
o Knowledge of IT hardware and devices.
