Job description

Role Summary

The Teaching Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment for children. This role involves assisting in lesson delivery, caregiving routines, classroom management, and maintaining open communication with children, staff, and parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
  • Assist in supervising children during class, transitions, outdoor play, and routine times (e.g., snack, toileting).
  • Engage children meaningfully through guided play, storytelling, and hands-on exploration.
  • Help prepare and clean up teaching materials and classroom resources.
  • Observe and support individual children’s needs under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic classroom environment.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events when required.
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with children and parents.
Requirements
  • Minimum Early Childhood Certificate or WSQ Fundamentals in Early Childhood Care & Education preferred
  • Experience in childcare, preschool, or enrichment settings an advantage
  • A caring and patient disposition
  • Enjoys working with young children and is sensitive to their needs
  • Willingness to learn and support classroom routines
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Physically fit and able to manage active young children
