Job description

Position: Teaching and Learning Assistants for Primary School

Start Date: 1 July 2025*

Location: Singapore

Are you eager to help shape research-driven learning experiences for young students? Are you ready to help found a school that empowers students to thrive in learning spaces that go beyond the traditional classroom? If you’re excited to build something transformative from the ground up, join our pioneering team as we prepare to open in August 2025.

About Us

We are an “accelerator of learning” and believe that deep learning happens when students are actively engaged, thinking critically, and applying knowledge in meaningful ways. Our approach nurtures academic growth, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning while preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world.

To support our teaching and learning environment, our school enjoys a formal partnership with Riverdale Country School in New York, recently rated the #1 private school in the United States (https://www.niche.com/k12/riverdale-country-school-bronx-ny/).

Our learning community is designed around six core themes:

Learning How to Learn – Teaching students metacognitive skills to become self-directed learners.
Active, Engaged Learning – Making learning hands-on, movement-rich, and inquiry-driven.
A Growth Mindset – Cultivating resilience, creativity, and perseverance in all learners.
Real-World Application – Connecting learning to authentic, interdisciplinary experiences.
Collaboration & Community – Fostering teamwork, empathy, and cross-cultural understanding.
Wellbeing & Thriving – Ensuring students' emotional, physical, and mental health to support optimal learning.

As a Teaching and Learning Assistant in our school, you will support instruction and help to create learning experiences that inspire curiosity, imagination, and courage while ensuring that students build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and global competency.

What We Seek

As a Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, not only, the educational experiences of our learners, but also the teaching, learning and collaborative culture of our school. Your responsibilities align with our commitment to redefine teaching and learning and our need to be innovative in our approach, process and application.

Candidates should be skilled and thoughtful collaborators and experienced in supporting foundational literacy and numeracy. Additionally, experience in supporting multilingual learners and creating inclusive learning spaces for students who are still developing English proficiency is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning Assistants play a vital role in supporting the educational and emotional development of learners. Your responsibilities are diverse and essential for creating an effective environment focused on learning and growth.

  • Assisting Lead Educators in delivering learning experiences by helping to prepare materials, setting up equipment, and managing classroom resources.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to learners who may need extra help with their learning, ensuring that all learners can access and engage.
  • Motivate learners to engage in classroom experiences and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Observe and track learner progress, providing feedback to lead educators about individual learner needs and their achievements.
  • Help maintain a calm and orderly learning environment by implementing strategies as directed by the lead educator.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts among learners and support them in developing social skills.
  • Assist with maintaining learning records, including attendance, assessment results, and reports.
  • Help prepare teaching materials and resources for learning, ensuring that everything is ready for effective instruction.
  • Be vigilant about the safety and well-being of learners, recognizing signs of distress or abuse, and reporting concerns to the designated safeguarding lead (DSL).
  • Contribute to creating a safe and supportive learning environment where learners feel comfortable expressing themselves.
  • Collaborate with teaching team and other staff members to plan lessons and share insights about learner progress.
  • Occasionally assist in communicating with parents regarding their child's progress or any concerns that may arise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma holder or equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Counselling, Psychology or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience within a school setting
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Familiarity with American educational values.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented, forward-thinking school culture.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge school that redefines what learning looks like. You will have the freedom to create immersive, real-world learning experiences, collaborate with forward-thinking colleagues, and shape an educational environment that prepares students for the challenges of the future.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and forward-thinking educational environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • The chance to be part of a transformative educational experience as we pioneer new ways of global learning in Singapore.
