A leading school in Singapore is seeking a dedicated Teacher for Special Education to enhance student engagement through meaningful lessons. The successful applicant will have responsibilities in planning classes, assessing learning outcomes, and collaborating with a range of stakeholders to create a safe and enriching learning environment.
• Prepare semestral goals and progress reports, and discuss with parents during case conferences.
• Plan and deliver engaging and meaningful lessons across all curriculum areas to enhance student engagement.
• Assess and report learning outcomes through Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Individual Transition Plans (ITP).
• Conduct group activities for students, including hydrotherapy or swimming sessions.
• Be responsible for all matters related to the assigned class or school activities.
• Provide support and guidance to teacher assistants in teaching and learning areas.
• Support and guide class wardens in ADL and Life Skills development.
• Assist untrained or beginning teachers in teaching and co-curricular activities (CCA).
• Plan and conduct CCA sessions.
• Maintain records of students’ attendance and progress in CCA contributions to the school.
• Assist in coordinating events and committees.
• Collaborate effectively with parents, caregivers, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), other AWWA services, and volunteers.
• Establish a safe and enriching learning environment within and beyond the classroom to promote student learning.
• Report any student accidents or injuries to the Principal and submit necessary reports.
• Attend relevant courses to upgrade skills and submit reports on participation.
• Share responsibilities for the upkeep, maintenance, and inventory of classroom equipment and teaching aids.
• Share innovative ideas with colleagues at departmental or school levels.
• Attend meetings, case discussions, home visits, and staff development training.
**Qualifications:**
• Minimum GCE ‘A’ Levels or Polytechnic Diploma with a credit in English at ‘O’ Levels, or trained Special Education Teacher.
• At least 2 years of relevant working experience.
• Experience working with persons with disabilities is an advantage.
**Knowledge/Skills:**
• Ability to co-lead a group of teachers and/or teacher assistants.
• Ability to contribute positively to group dynamics.
