The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of chemistry teachers within a dynamic and forward-looking Science faculty. Students study a general Science course in years 7, 8 and 9 as part of our bespoke 3-14 curriculum before starting the Edexcel IGCSE Science courses in year 10. Both combined ‘double’ and separate ‘triple’ award IGCSE programmes are offered. In the sixth form students can choose Edexcel International A Level Chemistry or Chemistry as part of the IB Diploma.

The successful candidate will preferably have either A-level or IB Diploma experience and will be a strong team-player with experience of collaborative planning and assessment at all levels. In the Science Faculty, technology for learning is embedded in teaching across Year 7 to Year 13 through individual MS Surface / iPad devices and the use of OneNote for all our teaching schemes. Experience of using OneNote and developing schemes in conjunction with e-Learning resources and the use of current sensor technology within the teaching of Chemistry is an advantage. Classroom practice throughout the school is heavily influenced by the IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning and evidence-based science of learning. A commitment to the ongoing development of best teaching, learning and assessment practices is essential.
