About the Role

This position will assist the Senior Tax Manager in all aspects of tax compliance, planning and reporting. This position will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and review of local tax returns and management of the tax affairs of AIA Singapore, LCV, AIAFA, AIA Brunei and AIA Agent Provident Fund including but not limited to:

  • Goods and Services Tax
  • Withholding Tax
  • Transfer pricing
  • Assist with statutory tax compliance including timely filing of statutory returns, compliance with tax legislations and practices and managing tax regulators (e.g. via effective use of the IRAS’ Enhanced Taxpayer Relationship Programme) for early closure of the business units’ tax affairs.
  • Assist in preparation of tax projections and forecasts.
  • Assist with tax advice to the Singapore segment on its company related activities and transactions ensuring compliance and encouraging tax efficient solutions where applicable. This includes acting as a trusted ‘Business Partner’ and providing tax technical expertise on business activities and transactions.
  • Assist in implementation of any tax-driven system/control/policy changes.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and their potential impact on the business units.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing sustainable tax planning and strategy to achieve optimal tax efficient position for the Singapore segment in relation to its business and strategic planning activities.
  • Support the Senior Tax Manager in ensuring tax governance and controls are in place to mitigate any identified risks in relation tax.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements streamline and improve overall effectiveness of the tax function to deliver sustainable quality results, including collaboration with other finance colleagues and/or departments to apply and deliver digital tax solutions.

Requirements

  • Education – Degree in Accounting and/or professional qualification
  • Experience – at least 5 years experience on Indirect Tax and withholding tax.
  • Experience with taxation of insurance companies is a plus.
  • Certifications/licenses – CPA and/or SIATP
  • Special skills – Knowledge of Singapore tax rules and regulations. Proficiency in accounting software, SAP. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
