We are on the lookout for a Tax Manager, who is a hands-on and proactive team player. This role involves managing and overseeing the Group’s tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax reporting, and providing tax advisory to internal stakeholders. You will also support projects and ad-hoc duties as required, drive tax process improvement, strengthen tax controls, and implement best practices within the Group.

Responsibilities:

  1. Tax governance & policy matters:
    • Reporting to the Head of Tax, ensure compliance with relevant tax and transfer pricing regulations across all entities in the Group, Singapore, and regional (Greater China, India, ASEAN).
    • Assist with the implementation of the Group Tax Strategy and the roll-out of tax policies, tax controls processes, and best practices.
    • Drive continuous tax optimization projects and improvements to enhance tax compliance quality and efficiency. Provide improvement recommendations.
    • Develop tax-efficient structures for investment, intra-group financing, corporate shared services, and cross-border transactions.
    • Monitor updates to the Group tax governance and transfer pricing policies in accordance with the latest tax regulation developments.
  2. Tax Compliance:
    • Oversee all aspects of tax compliance alongside the Finance team, ensuring timely review and filing of tax returns.
    • Review to identify tax planning opportunities and minimize the occurrence of tax controversies.
    • Manage the preparation of transfer pricing documentation reports, tax position papers, and benchmarking studies in collaboration with the local country Finance team.
    • Ensure proper and adequate transfer pricing documentation is maintained to support intra-group transactions in compliance with local regulations.
    • Perform operational transfer pricing reviews to align business arrangements with transfer pricing policy and objectives.
  3. Tax Reporting:
    • Set up and maintain a central tax database for Group tax reporting, data analytics, and preparing for the BEPS Pillar 2 requirements.
    • Manage the Group’s tax reporting, including the annual tax accounting process and periodic review of tax provision balances and deferred tax assets/liabilities to ensure accuracy.
    • Perform tax data analysis to offer insights and recommendations to manage tax risks for optimization and mitigation.
    • Provide tax advice, guidance, and training to internal users on direct taxes, indirect taxes, withholding tax, and other tax matters.
    • Business partnering to provide tax support on business transactions and projects.
    • Provide tax leadership and support on M&As and internal projects.
    • Review business and intercompany contracts for tax risk management.
    • Support/handle applications for tax incentives and government grants.
  4. Tax Audit:
    • Manage tax audits and queries from tax authorities in collaboration with the local country Finance team.
    • Analyze exposure and assessment, updating stakeholders regularly.
  5. Tax Trends & Development:
    • Stay updated on tax law changes, evaluate their impact on business, and handle change management.
  6. Other duties:
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned from time to time.

Candidate requirement:

  • A positive mindset, can-do attitude, initiative-taker, collaborative skills, and team worker.
  • Strong technical background and practical experience handling regional direct and indirect tax matters for MNCs. Transfer pricing working knowledge.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills with the ability to research and apply tax law; willingness to learn new technical skills independently.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills, maturity to work with minimal supervision, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Degree in accountancy/professional qualification, with at least 10 years’ experience in MNCs performing similar roles.
  • Good verbal and written English; fluency in Mandarin to support the China entities.
  • Conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
