Role Summary
The role is responsible for the strategic architectural design of IT systems infrastructure projects across enterprise, government, and Defence clients. This role ensures that infrastructure solutions are aligned with business objectives, security requirements, and industry’s best practices.
Acting as a bridge between technical teams and stakeholders, the candidate drives innovation, architectural excellence, and cross-functional collaboration. The candidate collaborates closely with Tech Leads and engineers, providing architectural guidance and ensuring consistency across the team. The role also interfaces with the Department Manager and external stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs and project goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Design: Define and own the infrastructure architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and security standards.
- Standards & Governance: Establish and maintain architectural best practices, templates, and compliance frameworks.
- Technical Oversight: Review infrastructure designs, guide Tech Leads, and ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
- Domain Expertise: Apply knowledge in network and cybersecurity products to support integration into infrastructure solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. Lead technical discussions and influence architectural decisions.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Coach Tech Leads and engineers, support career development, and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Innovation & R&D: Explore and evaluate emerging technologies for potential adoption to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in designing, deploying, configuring and integrating systems infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in systems infrastructure architecture and delivery.
- Strong understanding of security, scalability, and compliance in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with automation, cloud technologies, and modern
- infrastructure practices.
- Prior experience in a Systems Integrator (SI) or product vendor
- environment is preferred
Technical Proficiency
Hands-on experience or working knowledge in the following areas:
- Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Servers: Dell EMC, HPE, Nutanix
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V
- Applications: Active Directory, Microsoft Clustering, SCVMM, Certificate Authority
- Asset Management: Axonius
- Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds, Microsoft SCOM
- Patching Tools: WSUS, SCCM, Red Hat Satellite, Tanium
- Backup Solutions: Veritas, Veeam, Dell EMC, Commvault
- Storage Systems: Dell EMC, HPE, Hitachi Vantara, NetApp
- Automation: Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
- Security: Experience applying CIS benchmarks and security hardening
- Networking: Good understanding of core networking concepts such as IP addressing, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls
