Systematic Macro Execution Trader

Job summary

P2P is seeking an experienced execution trader to lead systematic macro trading across Rates, FX, Equities and Commodities. You will provide high-quality electronic and voice execution and work with PMs, quants and tech teams to implement strategies.

The role requires independent work under pressure, strong understanding of market microstructure, and ability to optimise trading workflows. You will monitor performance, manage risk controls, and help rollout new platforms and connectivity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in an execution trading role within global macro or systematic investment strategies.
• Experience executing across multiple asset classes including Rates, FX, Equities and Commodities.
• Strong understanding of systematic and quantitative investment strategies.
• Experience supporting systematic Portfolio Managers or Quantitative Trading teams.
• Deep understanding of market microstructure and electronic execution.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of judgement and risk awareness.
• Proven ability to operate effectively under pressure within fast-moving global markets.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify execution improvements and optimise trading workflows.

Responsibilities

• Execute systematic macro trading strategies across multiple asset classes.
• Provide high quality execution across electronic and voice venues whilst ensuring best execution principles are maintained.
• Partner closely with Systematic Portfolio Managers, Quant Researchers and Technology teams to facilitate efficient strategy implementation.
• Monitor algorithmic execution performance and identify opportunities to improve execution quality and reduce transaction costs.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of systematic trading workflows, execution algorithms, market microstructure and liquidity dynamics.
• Independently monitor global markets, identify execution risks and proactively manage trading throughout varying market conditions.
• Take ownership of execution decisions within defined risk parameters whilst escalating issues appropriately.
• Ensure accurate and timely execution of trades whilst maintaining robust operational controls.
• Work closely with Operations, Middle Office, Risk and Technology teams to ensure seamless trade lifecycle management.
• Assist in the testing, implementation and rollout of new execution platforms, broker connectivity and systematic trading infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, liquidity providers, exchanges and execution counterparties.
• Support continual enhancement of execution processes, automation and trading analytics.
• Contribute to the firm's execution framework through data-driven analysis and process improvements.
• The scope of responsibilities will evolve in line with the requirements of the Head of Central Execution and the wider Systematic Macro platform.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

• Market coverage will typically align with global macro trading hours, with flexibility required around major market events.
• Occasional extended hours may be required during periods of heightened market volatility or significant economic releases.
• Participation in weekend testing, platform upgrades or project implementation may occasionally be required.

WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

Essential

• Minimum 5 years' experience in an execution trading role within global macro or systematic investment strategies.
• Experience executing across multiple asset classes including Rates, FX, Equities and Commodities.
• Strong understanding of systematic and quantitative investment strategies.
• Experience supporting systematic Portfolio Managers or Quantitative Trading teams.
• Deep understanding of market microstructure and electronic execution.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of judgement and risk awareness.
• Proven ability to operate effectively under pressure within fast-moving global markets.

• Experience within a leading hedge fund or systematic asset manager.
• Experience working alongside Quantitative Researchers and Technology teams.
• Knowledge of transaction cost analysis (TCA) and execution performance analytics.

Technical Skills

Essential

• Strong understanding of institutional execution workflows and market conventions.
• Experience using institutional OMS and EMS platforms.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret trading and execution data.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Desirable

• Experience with Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, FlexTrade or comparable execution platforms.
