Job summary

Avensys Consulting in Singapore is seeking a System Software Engineer DBA to join our global IT services team. You will manage database environments, implement high-availability solutions, and optimize performance across DB2, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.

The role requires 5+ years of DBA experience, strong scripting skills, and hands-on work with Windows, Linux, AIX, and Solaris. You will contribute to data modelling, backups, recovery, and cloud database provisioning.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in Computer Science, IT or Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years Database Administration experience.
• Experience with DB2 (v10+), Oracle Server (v11+), PostgreSQL (v14+).
• Knowledge of SQL Server and MySQL is advantageous.
• Experience in data modelling (ERWIN or equivalent).
• Troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
• Performance tuning and optimization using native tools.
• Backups, restores and recovery models.
• HA/DR options for DB2/Oracle/PostgreSQL.
• Scripting for operational automation.
• Stored Procedures, PL/SQL and SQL.
• Database design, development and performance tuning.
• Cloud database computing experience.
• Experience on Windows, AIX, Linux and Solaris servers.
• AFC system experience is a plus.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Recognised degree in Computer Science, IT or Engineering;
• Minimum 5 years Database Administration experience;
• Experience with Database Administration for DB2 (version 10 onwards) / Oracle Server (version 11 onwards) / PostgreSQL (version 14 onwards);
• Knowledge and/or working experience in SQL Database servers and MySQL will be an advantage;
• Experience in data modelling which include performing, managing and validating Data Model creation (ERWIN and/or equivalent);
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems;
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. (knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics);
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models;
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for DB2 / Oracle Server / PostgreSQL;
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts / shell scripting;
• Experience in writing and implementing Stored Procedures, PL/SQL and SQL;
• Experience in database design, development and performance tuning;
• Experience in cloud database computing;
• Experience working with Windows, AIX, Linux and Solaris servers;
• Experience in Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system will be an advantage;
