System Engineer

Brief Job Description: The Senior System Engineer is responsible for providing operational support to system infrastructure, supporting clients, resolving technical issues, and conducting root cause analysis. He/she is also required to manage change requests through change request processes, including requirement gathering, impact analysis, design, testing, and integration of changes into the existing environment.

Project Delivery

  1. Gather business and/or application requirements related to infrastructure, conduct impact analysis, and suggest design/re-design to integrate changes into the existing environment.
  2. Test systems according to specifications and service levels. Perform system programming and configuration where relevant.
  3. Manage system changes through established change request processes and provide status reports to relevant parties.
  4. Respond promptly to incidents, investigate, and provide temporary or permanent resolutions. Provide timely status updates.
  5. Conduct root cause analysis and implement proactive measures. Monitor the effectiveness of these measures.
  6. Monitor and measure system performance and availability proactively.
  7. Implement corrective actions to improve performance and availability.
  8. Monitor service levels (e.g., service requests, system availability), document, and maintain system configurations. Provide regular reports.
  9. Execute service continuity measures, such as backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plan dry runs, to ensure business continuity.
  10. Ensure ICT systems management adheres to ISO20000, ISO27001, ITIL, ITSM, and related best practices and methodologies (e.g., change, release, incident, problem, and configuration management).
  11. Manage budgets, resources, and schedules for system implementation and operations, ensuring deliverables meet client requirements and quality standards.
  12. Establish facility management standards and best practices to ensure operational consistency across teams.

Customer / Team Management

  1. Provide technical advice related to systems to customers or project teams. Lead and assist in developing bids and proposals.
  2. Manage support resources to prioritize tasks and schedule resources, ensuring service quality.
  3. Coordinate with other project teams to monitor, secure, and optimize service operations.

Deployment Phase

  1. Participate in designing, building, and testing infrastructure for Exchange, Lync, Ironport, and related peripherals for messaging and collaboration services.
  2. Participate in designing, building, and testing infrastructure for Redhat, Google Apps, VMWare, GSA, and related peripherals for cloud-based messaging and collaboration services.
  3. Manage user migrations from old to new infrastructure, ensuring successful transition.

Production Support

  1. Ensure smooth operation of infrastructure services, managing vendors for hardware/software replacements, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  2. Be on standby for major incident escalations, ensuring incidents are handled according to SOPs and promptly addressed.
