We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer with expertise in photonics and laser systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, photonics, or laser technology, with at least five years of experience in designing and integrating complex photonics-based systems. This role involves a multidisciplinary approach, including power management, communications, optics, thermal considerations, and opto-mechanical integration.

As a System Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including software, mechanical, electrical, and optical engineers—to develop and optimize advanced photonic and laser-based solutions. Your ability to conduct system-level design, analysis, and integration will be critical in ensuring high-performance, reliable, and scalable systems.

Be Part of Our Success

  • Lead the system-level design and integration of photonics and laser systems, considering power, communications, optics, thermal management, and mechanical constraints.
  • Define system architecture, requirements, and specifications based on application needs and performance goals.
  • Work closely with optical, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure seamless system functionality.
  • Conduct trade-off analyses and feasibility studies for system optimization.
  • Develop and implement testing and validation procedures for photonic and laser-based systems.
  • Support prototyping, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of integrated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations for laser and photonic systems.
  • Provide technical documentation, including system design reports, test plans, and integration guidelines.

Qualities We Value

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Lasers, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, integrating, and developing photonic or laser-based systems.
  • Strong understanding of laser optics, optical components, opto-mechanical systems, and system-level integration.
  • Experience with power management, thermal control, and communication interfaces for photonic systems.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting photonics hardware.
  • Experience with Zemax, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar optical/system design tools.
  • Knowledge of laser safety standards (e.g., IEC 60825-1) and regulatory requirements.
  • Background in fiber optics, free-space optics, or high-power laser systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, FPGA, or real-time control systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines, working effectively with mechanical, electrical, software, and optical engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex system challenges.
  • Working location is in Ang Mo Kio, Singaporeans only.
