Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to oversee the operations, maintenance, and scalability of our data centre infrastructure. This role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the physical and virtualized computing environments that power our critical applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage data centre infrastructure including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems.
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure 24/7 uptime.
Implement and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
Perform regular maintenance activities including patching, firmware updates, and hardware lifecycle management.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure data centre compliance with security policies and standards.
Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and services.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues promptly.
Lead or support data centre migration, expansion, or modernization projects.
Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure design, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Support audits and compliance efforts (e.g., ISO etc.).
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3 to 5+ years of experience managing enterprise infrastructure or data center environments.
Proficiency with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Familiar with Windows, Linux (RedHat) operating systems and systems hardening
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls).
Experience with enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS).
Familiarity with data centre power, UPS, and physical security systems.
Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, vCenter).
Experience with Nessus Vulnerabilities assessment software
Excellent troubleshooting skill and documentation skills.
Work Environment:
Participation in an on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.
