Overview
The Sustainability Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing sustainability programs that support the organisation’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. This role involves developing educational and training materials—both online and in-person—while ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards. The specialist will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainable practices, track performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Program Design & Implementation
- Develop and execute sustainability programs aligned with organisational goals and industry best practices.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify sustainability gaps and opportunities.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts to implement initiatives in areas such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, carbon management, and sustainable procurement.
- Monitor program progress, analyse data, and prepare reports to track effectiveness and ROI.
Development of Training & Online Learning Materials
- Design, produce, and update online learning modules, training toolkits, and other educational content related to sustainability practices.
- Ensure that all training materials meet professional learning standards and incorporate adult learning principles.
- Collaborate with instructional designers, content creators, and digital learning teams to maintain high-quality, user-friendly content.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure all sustainability programs and training materials comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry guidelines, and national frameworks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sustainability-related standards, certifications, and government policies.
- Review and validate content to adherence to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) requirements, where applicable.
Stakeholder Engagement & Support
- Work with departments, partners, and vendors to promote sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct workshops, briefings, and outreach activities to support program adoption.
- Provide expert advice on sustainability best practices and emerging trends.
Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track sustainability metrics and prepare performance dashboards and reports.
- Identify areas for improvement and propose enhancements to existing programs and materials.
- Support audits, evaluations, and quality assurance checks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- DACE Certification (Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education) or equivalent, with strong knowledge of adult learning methodologies.
- Familiarity with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) requirements, including curriculum development, assessment standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Education, or a related field.
- Experience in sustainability program development, corporate sustainability, or ESG-related roles.
- Strong communication, project management, and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop high‑quality learning materials, including digital and online content.
