Job description

You will be responsible to execute Sustainability strategy and build Sustainability into UNIQLO’s brand expression. Specifically, you will focus on developing and implementing impact initiatives to support the global sustainability agenda and achieve Fast Retailing’s global targets. You shall be a mature and trusted business leader who can build effective teams, and develop close partnerships with SG community stakeholders, including engaging customers and employees on their sustainability journey with UNIQLO through purpose and meaningful experiences.

You will also oversee the disclosure and reporting matters including monitoring and evaluating material data for impact measurement and compliance. As HOD, you will also manage the team administration and finance, including supervision of managers, executives and interns with a view towards talent development.

Key Job Responsibilities

Team Admin and Finance

  • Manage Sustainability elite team operations, department administration and finance, including procurement standards and procedures

  • Manage team to carry out successful projects with least budget requirement

  • Supervise department internship programme with view towards talent development for company’s Sustainability management

Programme Management

  • Design sustainability programmes aligned with global initiatives, to achieve company business goals and programme outcomes that are meaningful to SG and globally in core Environment, Society and People pillars, where such content becomes useful for communication and influence to bring about greater support and engagement among stakeholders

  • Identify and develop solutions to support SG society through capacity-, capability- and future-building esp. through deepening NHN network support with financial and non-financial assistance

  • Achieve recognition for UNIQLO’s impact in SG through creative ideation of programming and content for comms

Project and Partnership Management

  • Having overview of SG sustainability laws and operating environment including partnerships and solutions, build and sustain positive relationship with customers and stakeholders to move UNIQLO’s sustainability agenda forward through collaboration and impact results

  • Exercise oversight in campaign implementations esp. cross-department projects, community stakeholder communication, GHQ reportings

Disclosure and Reporting

  • Perform analytical research and knowledge management relating to Sustainability topics (legislation, environment, society, PFA), conduct VOC, VOS, VOMarket, VOBeneficiary to use for campaign planning, evidence and progress tracking

  • Manage local Sustainability targets dashboard (aligned to GHQ) viz. Environment, Energy, Climate, Zero Waste, Social Contribution programs

  • Oversee company’s reporting to authorities on sustainability viz. product packaging, waste management

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree preferably in social or business sciences, or relevant disciplines

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in managing teams to deliver results, with experience in programme development and programming, project management preferred

  • Proven track record in leading multi-stakeholder teams, successful partnerships for business performance and/or impact

  • Open to new business ideas and innovations, able to design and articulate vision to motivate and inspire others to support and execute that vision

  • A positive mindset that thrives in achieving goals in a fast-paced work environment, managing resources to resolve complex challenges

  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change, able to see nuances

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to listen and collaborate effectively with customers and community stakeholders

  • Good judgment and ability to make decisions in real-time
