Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Proximity Buyer to join our Procurement team, supporting the Maersk Tanker Fleet. You will influence relationships across internal and external stakeholders and own end-to-end demand-to-delivery for vessels.

You’ll run RFQs with suppliers, ensure alignment with category strategies, and drive improvements to procurement data and budgets in a dynamic maritime environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain or sourcing.
• Proven ability to plan and manage supply chains within international matrix organizations.
• Experience in maritime industry considered an advantage.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills; able to build rapport at all levels.
• Excellent English communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end demand-to-delivery for an allocated fleet of vessels.
• Run RFQs with non-contracted suppliers to secure optimal deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with procurement category strategies for vessel operations.
• Build relationships with superintendents, vessel crews, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Drive process improvements across systems and stakeholders.
• Support vessel budget utilization through sound sourcing decisions.
• Analyze operational and procurement data to monitor performance.
• Provide supplier feedback to support category strategies and supplier development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end demand-to-delivery process for an allocated fleet of vessels, ensuring the 4R Principle – Right Price, Right Place, Right Time, and Right Quantity.
• Running RFQs with non-contracted suppliers to secure optimal deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with procurement category strategies while supporting vessel-specific operational requirements.
• Build strong working relationships with superintendents, vessel crews, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve operational challenges efficiently.
• Drive supply chain excellence by identifying process improvements and optimization opportunities across systems and stakeholders.
• Support effective vessel budget utilization through commercially sound sourcing decisions.
• Analyse operational and procurement data to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute with supplier feedback to support category strategies and supplier development initiatives across the Marine Procurement department.

What We’re Looking For

• More than 4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain or sourcing.
• Proven track record in planning and supply chain management within an international matrix organization.
• Experience in the maritime industry will be considered an advantage.
• Self-driven team player with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to build rapport at all levels.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize under ambitious timelines.
• Comfortable handling risks, uncertainties, and changing priorities.
• Excellent communicator in English, both written and verbal.
