Supplier Development Engineer Metal Casting and Machining

OverviewRedstone Manufacturing is a fast-growing sourcing company specializing in custom metal parts. Were looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to strengthen our network of casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal suppliers. This role is key to ensuring our suppliers are capable, responsive, and aligned with our project requirementsespecially during development and early production.Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Sourcing & Qualification Identify, evaluate, and onboard new metal manufacturing suppliers Assess supplier capabilities, pricing, lead times, and risk Conduct virtual or in-person supplier audits as neededQuotation Management Work with suppliers to gather quotes for customer RFQs Clarify requirements with suppliers to ensure accurate pricing and feasibility Compare cost structures and lead times across regions and processesDevelopment & Launch Support Communicate part specifications and technical requirements to suppliers Troubleshoot DFM or manufacturability issues pre-production Manage timelines and supplier accountability during first article and pilot runsIssue Resolution Serve as the point of contact for development and production issues with suppliers Coordinate with our China-based quality team when needed Ensure suppliers implement corrective actions quickly and effectivelyCross-Supplier Collaboration Occasionally support quote follow-ups or order-related tasks with other suppliers Coordinate with internal project managers to keep timelines and expectations alignedQualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field 10+ years of experience in metal manufacturing (castings, CNC, or sheet metal) Proven experience working directly with factories in Asia Strong communication and negotiation skills Excellent project management and follow-through Fluent in EnglishPreferred Traits Comfortable in both strategic and hands-on roles Naturally detail-oriented and proactive Able to work independently and remotely across time zones Interested in growing with a small but fast-moving company,
