Singapore Sports School is seeking passionate educators to inspire student-athletes through innovative teaching and mentoring in Mathematics. Positions available include Subject Head, Senior Teacher, and Teacher, each focusing on curriculum development and fostering a positive learning environment. Subject Head, Mathematics
Guided by Head of Department, Mathematics, you will be responsible to provide curriculum leadership to customising curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, including the use of technology, where student-athletes’ learning and development wrapped around student-athletes’ sports development and aspiration. This includes:
Developing a shared learning vision for the team as aligned with the department’s vision;
Determining educational goals and focus for teaching & learning for the team in alignment with the department’s goals and priorities;
Overseeing the planning, implementation and evaluation of school-based curriculum for the assigned subject / level;
Establishing an effective framework for the monitoring and evaluation of instructional programmes, classroom practice, and student-athletes’ learning; and
Nurturing a positive climate of integrity, professionalism and well-being in the team that is aligned to the school’s culture.
Senior Teacher, Mathematics
Guided by Head of Department, Mathematics and School Staff Developer, alongside fellow Teacher Leaders, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating a mentoring culture within our school. This involves taking on mentorship responsibilities, such as cooperating teacher duties, to actively support and nurture teachers in their professional growth and development. This includes:
Facilitating the sharing, demonstration, and guidance of professional mastery in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and management techniques among teachers in the school;
Designing effective assessment modes and monitoring strategies at the school level;
Contributing to fostering a supportive and empowering learning environment school-wide that motivates and engages student-athletes;
Promoting networks of learning among teachers in the school that include planning and implementation of school curriculum related initiatives and duties; and
Fostering strong partnership with stakeholders (e.g. parents, community and learning partners) to help achieve desired outcomes for school-wide programmes
Teacher, Mathematics
You will be responsible for the teaching, learning and mentoring of our student-athletes. You will also be involved in curriculum design, development of pedagogical strategies and assessment plans. This includes:
Delivering effective, engaging and well-paced lessons by adopting a wide range of teaching techniques that are student-centric and value-driven;
Contributing to establishing a conducive learning environment that motivates and empowers student-athletes;
Contributing to the design of appropriate and varied assessment modes that enhances teaching and learning;
Monitoring student-athletes' performance, provides accurate feedback and takes follow-up actions in a timely manner;
Contributing to provision of pastoral care and guidance programmes to inculcate values and socio- emotional competencies in student-athletes; and
Contributing to creating a supportive culture built on strong rapport and mutual trust with student-athletes
Requirements
Professional teaching qualifications, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education, or other similar qualifications
At least 3 years of teaching experience in pre-university institution or secondary school
Preferably an Honours degree or a good undergraduate degree in Mathematics
Experience in pre-university and/or International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is an advantage
Demonstrates effective, engaging and well-paced lessons by flexibly adopting a wide range of teaching techniques appropriate for a specific subject or learner profile
(For Subject Head/ Senior Teacher, Mathematics position) At least 5 years of teaching and leadership experience in secondary school or pre-university institutions. Applicants who are currently holding the position of Subject Head and Senior Teacher will be an advantage
Interest in sports preferred
