Job description

Guided by the Head of Department, Mathematics, you will be responsible for providing curriculum leadership, including customizing curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment, with the use of technology, focusing on student-athletes' learning and development in relation to their sports aspirations. This includes:

  1. Developing a shared learning vision for the team aligned with the department’s vision;
  2. Determining educational goals and focus for teaching & learning in line with the department’s priorities;
  3. Overseeing planning, implementation, and evaluation of school-based curriculum for the assigned subject/level;
  4. Establishing a framework for monitoring and evaluating instructional programs and student-athletes’ learning;
  5. Nurturing a positive climate of integrity, professionalism, and well-being within the team, aligned with the school’s culture.

Requirements

  • Professional teaching qualifications, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education or similar qualifications;
  • At least 5 years of teaching and leadership experience in secondary or pre-university institutions; current Subject Head and Senior Teacher roles are advantageous;
  • An Honours or good undergraduate degree in Mathematics;
  • Experience with pre-university and/or IB Diploma programmes is preferred;
  • Interest in sports is a plus.

The Singapore Sports School (SSP) is a specialized independent school dedicated to the development of talented student-athletes, providing support to excel in both sports and academics. We offer professional coaching, education, and pathways to help students achieve sporting and academic excellence.

We seek a suitable candidate for the full-time position of Youth Head Coach for Table Tennis, responsible for preparing student-athletes for national and international competitions, reporting to the Technical Director of STTA and the Assistant Director of SSP. Responsibilities include planning and evaluating training and competition strategies, working with various teams and stakeholders, and ensuring resource utilization, including travel to tournaments. The candidate will also mentor coaches and establish stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of coaching experience with elite and youth athletes;
  • Leadership and mentorship skills for coaching teams;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • ITTF Level 2 or equivalent coaching qualification recognized by ITTF;
  • Ability to obtain NROC membership and MOE registration (for foreigners, within 3 months);
  • Understanding of sports science and long-term athlete development;
  • Knowledge of quality training environments and character development;
  • Strong planning, organizational, and data analytics skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English; experience in a school environment is advantageous.
