Core Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Identify, evaluate, and select subcontractors based on project requirements.
Negotiate contracts, scope of work, pricing, and timelines.
Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
Resolve any disputes or issues that arise between the shipyard and subcontractors.
Plan and schedule subcontracted activities in coordination with the overall project timeline.
Ensure subcontracted work aligns with engineering specifications and project goals.
Conduct regular progress meetings with subcontractors to review milestones, risks, and challenges.
Ensure subcontractors comply with project quality control and safety standards.
Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with regulations and company policies.
Work with the QA/QC team to address any defects or non-conformance issues.
Enforce project safety protocols and ensure subcontractors adhere to workplace health and safety regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for subcontracted activities.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and ensure environmental policies are followed.
Monitor subcontractor costs and ensure alignment with project budgets.
Approve invoices and track financial performance of subcontracted work.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and safety.
Act as the main point of contact between the project management team and subcontractors.
Prepare and present reports on subcontractor performance, work progress, and project risks.
Escalate critical issues to senior management and recommend solutions.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Occupational Safety & Health (OSHA) Certification.
Shipyard Safety Supervisor (SSS) Certification or Shipyard Safety Manager Certification (if applicable).
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in marine industry operations, project management, or subcontractor management.
Experience working with shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore projects is a plus.
Strong contract negotiation and management skills.
Excellent leadership, coordination, and team management abilities.
Knowledge of marine industry operations, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office applications.
Ability to handle multiple subcontractors and projects simultaneously.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
