Job description

Role Overview:

The Student Affairs Officer plays a critical role in shaping a positive and enriching student experience

within a Private Education Institution (PEI). This position supports students development, welfare, and engagement through the implementation of holistic student services aligned with regulatory requirements (e.g., SSG, EduTrust), SSG frameworks, and the institution's vision to nurture industry-ready graduates.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Student Engagement & Enrichment

Plan and execute student engagement programmes, including orientations, leadership training, student club activities, and cultural events.

Develop initiatives that encourage active student participation and foster a vibrant campus culture.

Support international student integration and inclusion activities.

2. Career Services & Lifelong Learning

Work closely with industry partners and academic teams to organise career talks, job fairs, internships, and workshops.

Promote SkillsFuture resources such as the Skills Framework, Credit, and training pathways to both local and international students.

Offer basic career guidance and support, referrals to certified career coaches where needed.

3. Student Support & Pastoral Care

Serve as a first point of contact for student welfare issues, including attendance, academic stress, or personal concerns.

Liaise with counsellors, external agencies, and relevant departments to support at- risk students or those requiring additional help.

Assist in implementing pastoral care and mentoring systems in accordance with EduTrust and SSG guidelines.

4. Administrative & Regulatory Compliance

Maintain accurate records of student activities, services rendered, and feedback

Ensure all student affairs initiatives meet compliance standards under EduTrust, and SSG frameworks.

Assist in internal audits and reporting for student support services as part of regulatory submissions or reviews.

5. Enrollment activities:

  • Responsible for the smooth and effective programme administration process and student affairs
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory and statutory requirements and standards
  • Maintain proper filing and fee collection system
  • Able to propose suitable training and SSG funding solutions to learners
  • To actively participate in assigned corporate events, road-show, class visits, and seminars
  • To perform counter and phone duties

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Diploma or Degree (In Education, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, or related disciplines preferred).

Additional certifications in counselling, career development (e.g., WSQ Advanced Certificate in Career Development Facilitation), or mental health first aid are an asset.

Experience:

Minimum 1–3 years of experience in student affairs, education services, or customer service, preferably in a PEI or training institution.

Experience working with international students and adult learners is highly desirable.

Competencies:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Empathetic, approachable, and culturally sensitive.

- Knowledge of EduTrust and SSG guidelines applicable to PEIs.

- Resourceful, organized, and comfortable working in a dynamic, multicultural

environment.

Note: This role requires work on weekends. Off days: Friday full day / Saturday and Sunday are half days each.
