A leading educational institution is seeking a Student and Academic Services Officer to provide crucial administrative support for assessments and academic progression. This role involves ensuring compliance with academic policies, managing student results, and enhancing the student experience. The Student and Academic Services Officer (Assessments and Progressions) provides essential administrative support for assessment processes, students’ results and appeal management, and academic progression at Curtin Singapore. This role ensures compliance with academic and assessment policies, coordinates examinations, manages student results and appeal records, and supports academic staff and Unit Coordinators in their duties, especially in managing the marking and moderation process.
Key Responsibilities
Assessments and Progressions: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination systems, policies, and procedures. Oversee the organisation, scheduling, and security of assessments and exams, ensuring appropriate provisions for students with special requirements. Create progressive assessment schedules and coordinate invigilators and exam logistics.
Student Management: Advise students on course requirements and academic and assessment matters, and manage requests for paper reviews, deferred assessments, and extensions. Handle cases of appeals, and academic misconduct and provide support to students at risk by referring them to appropriate academic resources.
Marking and Moderation: Organise and monitor the marking process, ensuring timely distribution of feedback and results release to students. Manage assessment moderation in accordance with partner policies and coordinate the release of results within deadlines.
University Procedures: Ensure student academic progress complies with regulations. Assist in preparing and attending Board of Examiners meetings and produce necessary reports.
Other Duties: Perform ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Senior Manager (Academic), contributing to the overall functioning of the Office of Pro Vice-Chancellor.
Qualifications
Essential:
A diploma (or equivalent).
Availability for after office hours, including after 6 pm on weekdays and Saturday, as required for tests and examination invigilation, where invigilation compensation will be applicable.
Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
High levels of initiative and problem-solving skills.
High initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with student information systems or customer relationship management tools.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently in a dynamic environment.
Desirable:
Experience in academic administration and/or programme management, preferably in higher education. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
Experience in working with international students.
Ability to adapt in a dynamic and past paced environment.
