Job Description: Structural Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Project Management & Coordination:

o Work closely with the Project Manager and other engineers to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the project.

o Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities (e.g., BCA, LTA) to ensure project specifications and statutory requirements are met.

o Review and coordinate structural drawings and designs to resolve discrepancies and issues that arise during project execution.

o Participate in regular technical and progress meetings to provide updates and address structural-related matters.

• Technical & Engineering Oversight:

o Supervise and coordinate all civil and structural works on-site, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specifications.

o Conduct in-progress and joint inspections to ensure that works are executed to the required quality standards.

o Check and raise technical queries to clarify and resolve any design or construction-related issues.

o Ensure all temporary and permanent works comply with the relevant Singapore standards (e.g., Eurocodes), building codes, and safety regulations.

o Provide technical advice and guidance to the construction team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

• Documentation & Quality Assurance:

o Prepare, submit, and monitor technical drawings, method statements, and shop drawings.

o Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and inspections.

o Assist in updating the project quality plan as and when appropriate.

o Lead or participate in the internal QA/QC checks on all construction work, materials, and equipment.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a university recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore.

• Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a civil or structural engineering role, preferably with a main contractor in Singapore.

• Technical Skills:

o Strong knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and design standards in Singapore.

o Proficiency in engineering design software and analytical tools (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM software, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, etc.).

o Experience in the design and construction of civil infrastructure projects (e.g., rail, bridges, tunnels, ports) is a significant advantage.

• Soft Skills:

o Excellent problem-solving skills with a meticulous eye for detail.

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse project team.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
