Job summary

Tyco Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a Senior Optical Commodity Manager to lead global optical sourcing, strategy, and supplier development. You will drive cost reductions, manage RFQs for NPI projects, and coordinate cross-functional efforts to achieve KPIs such as savings and localization.

The role requires a strong leadership presence, 10 years in a global commodity function, and deep knowledge of optical transceivers and components. English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop Optical commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Monitor global market trends, supply-demand dynamics and geopolitical factors.
• Mitigate risks from commodity price fluctuations.
• Identify and develop new suppliers with cross-functional teams.
• Optimize supplier base to improve efficiency and quality.
• Conduct RFQs for New Product Introductions (NPI).
• Drive cost reduction through data analysis, market data and negotiation.
• Lead VA/VE projects with engineering teams.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts to hit project KPIs (savings, lead time, MOQ, dual sourcing, localization).
• Lead quarterly supplier scorecard reviews to improve quality, delivery and cost.
• Identify risks and underperforming suppliers; implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with plant teams as needed.
• Address Business Growth and Market Demands; Improve Procurement Efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop Optical commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.

• Identify risks, opportunities, and underperforming suppliers; implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure continuous improvement.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• 10 years of experience working in a global/region commodity role in a multinational company.
• 5 years of people management experience
• 5 years of Optical related
• Engineering background is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead projects, coordinate, problem-solve, and make decisive decisions to achieve results
• Proactive and detail-oriented
• Strong analytical and cross-functional skills
• Ability to understand global markets, collaborate effectively with global teams, and experience in working with suppliers in the Asia-Pacific region and Global
• Understanding of optical transceivers, optical components, CPO, optics passive fiber connectivity, Silicon photonics, Lasers (EML, Vcsel etc) and fiber interfaces
  optical transmission, optical jumpers,components used in AI/accelerated computing interconnects.
• Solid understanding of high speed optical transceiver architecture: optics chain, fiber interfaces and optical budgets.
• Knowledge of optical devices and materials:
• Understanding of the manufacturing flow: and key yield, capacity, and lead time drivers.
• Basic familiarity how these influence component selection and cost.
