About SSIA
The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) is the voice and vanguard of Singapore’s semiconductor sector. We are a dynamic platform connecting global industry leaders, SMEs, academia, and government agencies. We champion talent development, enable strategic partnerships, and shape the future of Singapore’s role in the global semiconductor landscape.
As we deepen our influence and regional leadership, we are searching for a Strategic Communications Leader who can sharpen our voice, elevate our visibility, and steward our message in an era of transformation driven by AI, sustainability, and regional collaboration.
The Role
This is not a typical communications job.
We’re seeking a visionary communications strategist—a storyteller, thought leader, and relationship builder who thrives at the intersection of technology, policy, and purpose.
You will be the guardian of SSIA’s voice, ensuring we speak with clarity, consistency, and impact across all stakeholder groups—industry leaders, policymakers, international partners, and the next generation of tech talent.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role demands an experienced professional who can craft compelling narratives, manage high-level communications with diplomacy and precision, and amplify the influence of one of the region’s most vital industry associations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Planning: Develop and lead the execution of integrated communication strategies aligned with SSIA’s vision and initiatives—locally, regionally, and globally.
- Executive & Thought Leadership Communications: Shape the voice and positioning of SSIA’s leadership team through speechwriting, op-eds, talking points, and strategic messaging for key platforms and summits.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Manage and grow SSIA’s communications with government agencies, foreign delegations, regional and global associations, and member organizations.
- Crisis & Reputation Management: Provide counsel on sensitive issues and manage public statements with professionalism, discretion, and clarity.
- Internal & Member Communications: Drive high-quality, engaging communications across SSIA’s member base. Maintain consistent outreach through newsletters, circulars, announcements, and updates.
- Media & Public Relations: Build strong relationships with media, tech editors, and partners. Craft impactful press releases, media kits, and public statements.
- Event Communications: Oversee all communications for flagship events (e.g., SSIA Summit, Semiconductor Dinner, Industry Days), from pre-event publicity to post-event reporting.
- Publication Oversight: Serve as the editor-in-chief of Semiconductor Voice, SSIA’s signature publication—shaping its editorial direction and ensuring content quality.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: At least 7 years in communications roles, preferably in the technology, semiconductor, or innovation-driven industries. Prior exposure to public sector communications or regional/international stakeholder engagement is highly valued.
- Skills: Exceptional writing and editing abilities. Comfortable drafting for senior leadership. Strong verbal communicator and facilitator. Capable of translating complex ideas into accessible narratives.
- Strategic Thinker: Able to connect the dots between macro trends, SSIA’s mission, and communication opportunities. Able to anticipate and navigate sensitive or high-stakes communication scenarios.
- Relationship Builder: Confident working with high-level stakeholders across public and private sectors. Diplomatic, credible, and engaging.
- Digitally Fluent: Adept with communication tools, social media, and digital publishing platforms. Bonus: familiar with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or basic web CMS.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.
