Job summary

Google Cloud Consulting Professional Services’ JAPAC AppDev Practice seeks a Strategic Cloud Engineer to design end-to-end cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform, balancing performance, security and scalability while integrating diverse systems for major customers.

You will build production-grade reference code, automate CI/CD pipelines, work with GKE or Cloud Run, and lead discovery workshops with executives and engineers to map journeys and drive delivery. Travel ~30% for engagements.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end, full-stack cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform, making strategic technical trade-offs to optimize performance, scalability, security and system integration.
• Build and automate production-grade reference code, scripts, and full-stack software components while configuring cloud-native CI/CD pipelines, container runtimes (such as GKE or Cloud Run), and application telemetry.
• Lead customer discovery workshops and whiteboarding sessions to map user journeys, decomposing ambiguous requirements to drive both project delivery and scoping of complex technical delivery opportunities.
• Earn trust as a technical advisor to customer practitioners and leadership, resolving complex engineering blockers through active collaboration with Google Product, Presales, and companion PSO teams.
• Extract and package repeatable architectural patterns and reference code from customer engagements into reusable regional assets and methodologies to scale JAPAC-wide delivery.

As a Strategic Cloud Engineer within the JAPAC AppDev Practice, you will work directly with Google’s most strategic customers on critical application development, modernization, and production launch projects to help them transform their businesses. You will provide a balance of deep software engineering and high-impact technical consulting, collaborating with a variety of customer personas from executive to technical practitioner to drive adoption of modern solution patterns via Google’s Cloud Platform.

Travel approximately 30% of the time for client engagements.
