We are a profitable, owner-led multi-country, multi-entity e-commerce group, operating several direct-to-consumer worldwide brands. Our structure is complex, multiple jurisdictions, multiple currencies, diverse tax requirements, and cross-border payment flows and we are entering our next phase of international growth.

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Group CFO who understands the financial and operational realities of scaling e-commerce across borders, and can design the financial structure and systems to match our ambitions.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CEO (based in Romania) and working closely with the founders, you will own the group finance strategy. Your role will blend strategic leadership with practical execution from shaping the corporate structure to optimising FX flows and aligning the financial infrastructure with the realities of B2C ecommerce, payment platforms and international VAT.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Design and implement optimal corporate structures for new entities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advise on intercompany agreements, capital allocation models, and funding strategies that protect and grow owner capital.
  • Lead cashflow, FX, and treasury strategies to minimise costs, reduce exposure, and improve liquidity.
  • Build advanced forecasting and scenario models to guide owner and leadership decisions.
  • Connect key e-commerce performance metrics (contribution profit, CAC, LTV, conversion rates) to actionable financial strategies.
  • Deliver regular financial insights to the CEO and founders, focusing on opportunities, risks, and ROI.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the consolidation of multi-currency, multi-entity accounts with full compliance.
  • Ensure robust tax planning and risk management across all jurisdictions, working with specialist advisors.
  • Lead financial and legal due diligence for any M&A activity, producing insight-driven reports and recommendations.
  • Standardise group-wide financial policies, controls, and processes for scalability.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead & develop the NZ-based finance team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in senior finance leadership roles (CFO or Group FD).
  • Proven experience in multi-country, multi-currency ecommerce operations.
  • Success designing group structures, setting up new entities, managing cross-border capital flows.
  • Strong track record in treasury, FX hedging, tax strategy, and internal capital allocation.
  • Skilled at building forecasting models that connect financial results to operational metrics.
  • Experienced in owner-led businesses without institutional capital.
  • Recognised accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Comfortable in lean/agile environments and working across time zones.
