Store Keeper Job Description
We are seeking an organized and experienced store keeper responsible for managing stock, staff, and planning promotional campaigns for the store. The storekeeper oversees the goods in the store and is a key person in the store's operations, responsible for store control and management.
Storekeeper Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive and dispatch all types of goods and deliveries to the correct storage areas within the hotel.
- Follow standards for issuing and receiving stock within the store's operation area.
- Regularly monitor inventory levels and compile orders based on par levels or needs.
- Maintain organized records to ensure proper filing of reports and invoices.
- Monitor automatic replacement levels for food items to ensure proper stock levels.
- Verify that all goods received match purchase agreements, delivery notes, and quantities.
- Manage storage of food, beverages, and operational stock.
- Ensure storage facilities are maintained in terms of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Reject damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items upon receipt.
- Keep storage areas clean and compliant with hygiene regulations.
- Ensure store requisitions are signed by relevant Department Heads.
- Match requested quantities with issued quantities.
- Have store requisition forms signed and entered into the Inventory/Materials Management System.
- Post invoices using the MMS - Material Management System.
- Communicate professionally and clearly with colleagues and vendors.
- Follow up on after-hours documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures, especially regarding food and beverage items.
- Conduct inventory audits to assess levels and needs.
- Assist in identifying cost discrepancies with the Accounts Payable team.
- Complete and extend requisition forms regularly and update inventory systems.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to order and receive items and equipment.
- Address and resolve vendor delivery issues and oversee return processes.
- Verify, track, and report on received inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Storekeeper Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in retail management, marketing, or related fields.
- Experience in retail management or sales.
- Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, and budgeting.
- Ability to develop and implement retail promotion strategies.
- Positive, friendly, and well-organized demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Availability to work during opening hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
