Job description

Overview

This is a 6-month contract role to support an increase in business demands across the Croc's retail network. The Store Development Manager is responsible for leading and delivering retail store development and project initiatives, ensuring all activities—from new store openings to refurbishments to closures—are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget. The incumbent will partner closely with internal teams, landlords, contractors, and external vendors to manage end-to-end project delivery while ensuring compliance with design standards, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.

What You'll Do
Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of all APAC retail projects, ensuring clear project timelines, milestones, and deliverables are defined and consistently met. Proactively identify risks or delays and implement mitigation plans to keep projects on track.
Design Development & Approval Management
  • Partner with external contractors, landlords, and the Global Store Design & VM teams to align layouts with Croc's customer journey and store formats (Mainline Plus, Mainline, Outlet).
  • Embed VM principles into planning to ensure clear zoning, product flow, and in-store storytelling.
  • Translate Global VM guidelines into market-ready solutions (adjacency, fixtures, SKU density).
  • Ensure VM readiness for openings, including window execution and campaign integration.
  • Manage VM approvals and govern regional exceptions in line with global standards.
  • Monitor VM compliance through reporting, store mapping, and post-opening reviews.
Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Oversee the selection, coordination, and performance of external vendors and contractors across all project phases. This includes fixtures, graphics, hoarding, and installation works, ensuring quality standards are met and timelines are adhered to.
Store Project Delivery (Full Lifecycle)
  • Manage the full lifecycle of store-related projects, including new store openings, refurbishments, renovations, relocations, closures, kiosks, pop-ups, and expansions. Ensure smooth handover from construction to operations with minimal disruption to business.
Permits, Compliance & Regulatory Approvals
  • Take ownership of securing all required permits and approvals from landlords and relevant authorities. Work with architects and consultants to ensure full compliance with local regulations, including fire safety, building codes, and statutory requirements.
IT & Store Systems Implementation
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to plan and implement in-store systems such as CCTV, traffic counters, and audio systems. Ensure all technical requirements are integrated seamlessly into the overall project timeline.
Budget & Cost Control
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring all projects are delivered within approved CAPEX and OPEX parameters. Track expenses closely, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide regular updates to the APAC Retail team on budget utilization.
Procurement & PO Management
  • Ensure all purchase orders are accurately raised, tracked, and compliant with internal procurement policies. Maintain clear documentation and ensure alignment with project scope and approved budgets.
Facilities & Maintenance
  • Identify, prioritize, and resolve outstanding repair, maintenance, and facilities-related issues across the retail network, with a focus on Singapore and Malaysia. This includes driving timely closure of existing gaps to ensure stores meet operational, safety, and brand standards.
Tendering & Bidding Processes
  • Lead and manage tendering exercises for assigned projects, including preparing scope documents, evaluating vendor proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and recommending vendor selection to ensure the best balance of cost, quality, and delivery.
What You'll Bring To The Table
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in retail project management, store development, or construction, ideally within a multi-market/APAC environment.
  • Proven track record in managing end-to-end retail store projects (e.g., new store openings, refurbishments, relocations).
  • Strong understanding of retail store design, construction processes, and project lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with local regulatory requirements (e.g., fire safety, building permits) across key markets such as Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, layouts, and 3D renderings.
  • Solid experience in budget management (CAPEX/OPEX) and cost control.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, tendering, and vendor negotiations.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); experience with design tools (e.g., AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders across internal teams (Retail, VM, IT, Finance) and external partners (landlords, contractors, consultants).
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence, align, and resolve issues across different stakeholders and cultures.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and across multiple countries/time zones.
  • Highly organized with strong project planning, coordination, and multitasking capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under tight timelines.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong risk management and decision-making skills.
  • Hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivery.
  • Willingness to travel across APAC markets as required.
