Job description

Daily Operations:

  • Manage and configure SAN zoning and fabric connections.
  • Create, extend, and map storage LUNs across multi-platform environments
  • Perform hardware replacement, diagnostics, and repair for HPE 3PAR and StoreOnce appliances.
  • Monitor storage health, performance metrics, and capacity planning.
  • Handle backup configurations, monitoring, and troubleshooting using OpenView Data Protector.
  • Maintain physical tape libraries and manage virtual library systems.
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery drills and maintain recovery readiness.
  • Assist in data migrations and hardware refreshes as needed

Strategic & Technical Initiatives:

  • Design and optimize scalable, resilient storage architectures.
  • Review existing storage infrastructure and implement improvements for performance and reliability.
  • Apply patches, firmware upgrades, and vendor-recommended security fixes.
  • Integrate storage solutions with broader enterprise IT ecosystem.
  • Recommend and implement emerging storage solutions including HPE StoreOnce-based backup strategies.
  • Provide technical escalation support for complex storage and backup issues

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience supporting enterprise-level storage environments.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Hands-on experience with HPE 3PAR 7400/7200/V400, EVA4000/8000/8100/8400.
  • Strong expertise with StoreOnce (4500/5100/3540) and backup appliances.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS technologies including zoning and performance tuning.
  • Experience and knowledge in Tru64 Unix and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Expertise of SAN director switch configuration and performance analysis.
  • Experience managing physical and virtual tape library systems.
  • Domain expertise in storage replication, peer persistence, and Cluster Extension (CLX) configurations.
  • Familiarity with OpenView Data Protector and SAN management platforms.
  • Relevant training and/or certifications in server hardware and OS maintenance.

Technical Skills (Core to Role)


1. Storage Systems Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with HPE 3PAR (7200/7400/8400) and StoreOnce (4500/5100/3540) appliances.
  • Familiarity with tape libraries (e.g., MSL6480, MSL4048, 1/8 G2 LTO-7) and backup/restore processes.
  • Knowledge of HPE StoreEasy, DL380 series,

2. SAN & NAS Technologies

  • Strong understanding of SAN zoning, fabric configuration, and storage provisioning.
  • Knowledge of Fibre Channel (FC) and iSCSI protocols.

3. Backup & Recovery Tools

  • Experience with OpenView Data Protector, Veritas NetBackup, and tape rotation/maintenance practices.
  • Capable of configuring and monitoring enterprise backup jobs, resolving failures, and ensuring DR readiness.

4. Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Skilled in performance monitoring, capacity planning, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiar with tools like HPE OneView, Command View, or other performance/health dashboards

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical and solution-oriented with strong troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent documentation skills for technical procedures and recovery plans.
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional coordination experience.
  • Disciplined in change control, risk management, and incident response protocols.
