Job summary

National University Polyclinics is seeking an Instrument Technician to manage sterile processing in the Central Sterile Support Department (CSSD). You will supervise receiving, decontamination, sterilization, packaging, storage, and distribution of instruments to operating theatres and clinics.

You will ensure compliance with infection control standards, monitor sterilizers, perform routine maintenance, and supervise junior staff.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
• WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilisation Services) is an added advantage.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as Instrument Technician or CSSD/TSSU preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
• Good command of written English.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily CSSD operations: receiving, sorting, decontamination, inspection, packing, sterilization, storage, and distribution of instruments.
• Adhere to standards when operating washer-disinfectors, dryers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers.
• Perform sterilizer test indicators and monitor outcomes.
• Conduct inventory management of sterile linen and consumables.
• Issue sterile supplies to supported areas in a timely and accurate manner.
• Track PM schedules for equipment and ensure up-to-date activities.
• Communicate clearly and handover essential information to colleagues and supervisors.
• Supervise and guide junior staff; participate in governance and quality assurance.
