Steel Supervisor (Production)
Job description
Position Summary
- Understand, comply and enforce Company and HSE policies.
- Understand the importance of Safety and consequences of violating it.
- Cost control in terms of manpower deployment and materials procurement.
- Supervise, follow up, monitor and inspect work activities and get work done report approved / signed by Owner's Representative.
- Monitor and approve work of subcontractors.
- Liaise and coordinate with SRM for any job related instructions and requirements.
- Feedback to HOD / Engineer on whether workers have the appropriate skills to perform the job.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Comply to Company and HSE protocols.
- Prepare job list and schedule as per specifications.
- Plan and prepare manpower and material resources.
- Prioritise work according to their importance and urgency.
- Report promptly work related problems and to discuss matters sensibly with fellow colleagues and managers.
- Report work progress to HOD / Engineer / SRM daily.
- Ensure productivity of work through effective deployment and control of manpower.
- Ensure to order correct quantity of materials so as not to result in wastage. Also to take into account of price and quality.
- Ensure that the quality of work is up to standard.
- Ensure all Work Done Report is duly filled up and signed by relevant ship officers / superintendents.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are complied in accordance with MOM and Yard's standard.
- To follow strictly the hot work permit system and other permit to work system.
- To maintain checks on housekeeping and safety of equipment used to perform the activity.
- Ensure subcontractors carry out their work safely, conscientiously and productively with emphasis on quality.
- To accompany or arrange deputy for any work inspections.
- To be able to assist on the job training of workers to upgrade their skills.
- Able to identify problematic areas and come up with practicable solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a steelworks supervisor in a marine industry or shipyard.
- Must have a good knowledge in marine and offshore vessel steel works standard requirements.
- Able to read and understand technical drawings.
- Able to perform simple sketch or drawing.
- Possesses good leadership and self-initiative.
- Able to speak and write in proper English fluently.
