Job description

What the role is:

The position is located in the Manpower Research and Statistics Department (MRSD), Singapore. The department produces a wide range of national labour market statistics to facilitate informed decision-making within the government and the community-at-large.

What you will be working on:

The candidate will join the Manpower Research & Statistics Department, which is responsible for in-depth statistical activities, research & analysis supporting MOM’s strategic outcomes, and to facilitate informed decision making within the government and the community at large.The candidate will be part of the Data Management team. Responsibilities include:• Develop, maintain and execute efficient and effective data processing flows for large scale national surveys on manpower and manage statistical databases• Develop statistical tools for the provision of timely and reliable labour market information• Organise and maintain documents and reference material related to the databases needed for accurate coding, extraction and up-keeping of information• Undertake statistical programming/coding for the provision of information/data in support of analysis• Handle data requests from the Ministry, external Ministries, Statutory Boards and the public

What we are looking for:

• Experience (acquired either through education or work) in working with numbers and statistics.• Good understanding of statistical applications, concepts and calculations• Preferably 1-2 years of relevant experience in data processing, with knowledge in programming software / statistical tools like SAS, Python and Tableau• Preferably knowledge of industry, occupation and education classification as well as statistical concepts and definitions• Training will be provided for candidates without knowledge in programming software / statistical tools, industry, occupation and education classification• Expected to develop comprehensive understanding of statistical databases, including their limitations and appropriate applications across different use casesPWDs are welcome to apply.
