Job summary

Airwallex is building a state‑of‑the‑art lending platform in Singapore. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll architect, design, and implement large‑scale, secure systems for our lending platform, enabling fast, compliant credit experiences for global enterprise clients.

You will lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality APIs and services. The role offers growth opportunities in a fast‑moving fintech environment in Singapore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with modern practices and CI.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers.
• Strong CS foundation with OO programming; backend systems (Java/Kotlin) and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with DDD and event-driven architectures in production.
• Proven ability to design high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
• Cloud experience with GCP or AWS with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus.

About The Team

Airwallex is building a state‑of‑the‑art lending platform that empowers enterprise clients to offer innovative credit products to their customers, all through Airwallex’s technology and infrastructure. Our Singapore‑based Lending Engineering team owns the design, delivery, and scaling of our credit product portfolio for global enterprise clients. As part of this team, you’ll directly influence the architecture, reliability, and ongoing evolution of our next‑generation embedded lending platform.

What You’ll Do

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and implementing large‑scale, secure, and scalable systems for our lending platform. Your work will enable fast, seamless, and compliant credit experiences for our enterprise clients and their users while laying the technical foundation for future expansion into new financing products.

This role is based in Singapore.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful and effective lending solutions.
• Promote robust automated testing, code review, and monitoring practices to ensure the stability, scalability, and security of our platform.
• Stay on top of industry trends and proactively drive improvements to platform architecture, engineering practices, and delivery efficiency.

Who You Are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of hands‑on experience in software engineering, with strong exposure to modern engineering practices, continuous integration, and quality engineering.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers and leading the definition and execution of engineering strategy.
• Strong computer science foundation and object‑oriented programming skills, with proven experience building backend systems. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using, we are primarily using Java or Kotlin and the Spring / Spring Boot framework.
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs, with familiarity in modern API design principles and tools.
• Experience with domain‑driven design (DDD) and event‑driven architectures in production environments.
• Proven track record designing and maintaining high‑throughput, low‑latency, highly available distributed systems at scale.
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, lending, payments, or credit products
• Experience with SaaS product offering as a platform.
